What We Did
For National Vote Early Day, MTV commissioned chalk artwork across the country in 18 cities located in key swing states that were likely to decide the election. These art pieces then invited the public to participate in chalk artwork, in turn, spreading the message to vote.

The Challenge
Increasing voter turnout in the 2020 election was crucial for democracy. However, with a global pandemic preventing public events like in the past, we needed to find ways to engage the general public to vote.

Our Approach
We worked with artists across the country to drive awareness for Vote Early Day by creating larger than life chalk murals with bright, bold colors. We divided commissioned artwork into several types: large, micro, and community, as well as the balloon artwork of Robert Bose. Each piece focused on a central issue ranging from immigration to racial justice - reflecting the artist’s own lived experience.
